The Magic of Bali. Special Yoga Retreat with Anne The Chameleon, Bali, Indonesia. March 22-28, 2020
Join Anne Wanda Tessier (ERYT 500) for a luxurious and unique yoga retreat on the magical island of Bali. This retreat will take place during a very special time of year, when the Balinese will celebrate their New Year with Nyepi, their annual day of silence. The retreat will be hosted at the Chameleon, a contemporary luxury jungle residence set between the hype of Canggu and the peace of Tanah Lot. We will enjoy healthy meals with a private chef, daily meditation, yoga and plenty of time to relax by the pool. We will explore the island of Bali with its magnificent landscapes, temples, beaches, rice-fields views, and beautiful ceremonies. This retreat will provide the perfect balance of exploration and self-reflection. Anne is an experienced yoga teacher and has hosted several trainings and international retreats. She has been to Bali many times and cannot wait to return to explore the island during this very special time of year.
On March 25th 2019, Bali will be celebrating Nyepi. The entire island will shut down, internet will be turned off and the streets will be emptied for the day. The Balinese celebrate this day of silence by taking the opportunity to reflect and restart the New Year with new intentions and a pure heart. It is a time for contemplation and also an opportunity for Mother Nature to replenish and reboot after all the human activity throughout the year. This celebration is unlike anywhere else in the world, and something we should experience at least once in our lives. We will also honor this special day by remaining at the retreat center and being silent for the entire day of Nyepi. The days leading up to Nyepi are anything but silent. We will take the opportunity to explore the colour processions from various temples featuring spectacular colours, parasols, clothing and makeup, as well as purification ceremonies along the coastline. On Saka (New year’s eve) there are celebrations everywhere as we get closer to the Ogoh-Ogoh parade featuring papier-maché effigies which are created weeks prior to the new year ceremonies. These effigies (Ogoh-Ogoh) represent evil forces which are paraded on the streets on the eve of Nyepi. This is an ideal time to take photos and join the celebrations with locals.
